Cirio tomatoes

You might not think there would be a great difference between one tin of tomatoes and another but once you have cooked with any of the Cirio products you won’t want to change to a different brand. I was told that you should always buy the whole tomatoes because most brands use inferior quality fruit for tins of chopped tomatoes. If the tomatoes need to be broken down a bit before cooking either crush the whole tomatoes against the side of the tin with a fork or snip them with a pair of scissors. When you open a tin of Cirio tomatoes the quality is immediately visible-huge, plump juicy tomatoes in a thick sauce. The other thing I notice is that I never need to add a pinch of sugar to my cooking because the tomatoes have very low acidity. Look out for the passata La Napolitana in the range. It is delicious –a ready-made base for pizzas. Just smooth over the dough and top with mozzarella for the perfect margarita.
